Skinny Legs and All: Master Class #2

Welcome back, fellow scribes!

Last week, I kicked off a new writing prompt meme, The Master Class, with the opening line from Dhalgren by Samuel R Delany. There was a record turnout (three people is a record, since this was the first week, y’see) and considering that I didn’t think anyone would participate, I’d call that a success!

Here are the entries:

~David from The Scholarly Scribe presents us with “Infinite Loop,” a story of robots gone bad.

~Blogging newcomer and long time reader of Sinistral Scribblings, Shannon, tried her hand at the prompt and came up with this untitled short about a war council.

~Christine of Trudging Through Fog, weaves a new folktale about the seasons changing called “Agent of Winter.”

~My entry is a fragment page from a letter or diary entry written by a woman during the firebombing of Berlin in WWII called, “Die Zerstörung der alten Stadt.

All awesome entries and you should all feel pretty darn good about your work. Well done!

For this week’s prompt, I asked Shannon to choose, partly because I liked her piece and partly to encourage to write another short fiction piece. She chose Tom Robbin’s Skinny Legs and All and the opening line is:

This is the room of the wolfmother wallpaper.

A couple of you felt restricted by the 300 word limit, but that’s not a hard and fast rule. If you think another 200 words will finish your story – go for it! The goal with this is to have fun, write a nifty story and share with others. The only requirement is that you put the Master Class badge in your post – ’cause, we need the cross promotion! :-)

You have until around 6pm EST this coming Monday to get your prompts linked up with Mr Linky. At that time, I’ll choose a “winner” and ask you for your first line choice.

Happy writing!
